What stripe contrast should I look for?
Look for bright lemon and orange zones with clean black divisions. More yellow reads brighter in finished pieces. We sort for bands that run through the bead, not just a surface splash, and for an even polish since this stone cuts soft.

How dense should the banding be?
Pick medium to wide stripes for statement contrast. Very fine banding can read as gray from a distance, while extra-wide blocks can lose the signature striping. Medium spacing keeps color jumps obvious without looking blotchy.
Check that bands are continuous across each bead. Broken or patchy bands lose rhythm once strung. For earrings, choose twins with the same band thickness so the pair reads balanced.

Which shapes show the banding best?

For pendants, go large so the banding reads across the room. Our pears run about 10 to 40 mm and marquise about 25 to 30 mm lengths, which frame long, high-contrast bands. For earrings, match pairs in the 20 to 30 mm zone for presence without weight.

How do I string for maximum contrast?

Use spacing to control rhythm. Small neutrals or knots can pause busy patterns. Knotting adds about 1 mm per knot, which lengthens the run and keeps faces from rubbing.
