Gem olivine (forsterite), a magnesium-iron silicate; iron gives the yellow-green. Mohs 6.5-7, no cleavage but brittle. Bead material is mostly Chinese (Hebei) and Pakistani (Kohistan); Arizona (San Carlos) supplies small sizes.
