Bumble Bee Jasper doesn’t contain quartz, but composed of hematite, sulfur, etc. The yellow color of this gemstone is because of sulfur (wash your hands after handling since it is toxic). Its energy helps you to be positive and confident in all that you are doing, along with accepting changes, new opportunities, and improves decision making capabilities.

What it makes

Trilliants are used for pendants, earrings. Measured side by side, e.g. 9x10mm; usually drilled top-drilled across one corner. More about trilliants.

Strand calculator. Pick a finished length; we allow 1.5 inches for the clasp and findings.
19 beads of 22mm for a 18-inch piece, about 3 strands at roughly 9 beads per 8-inch strand.
Estimate. Natural beads vary in size; buy one extra strand if the count is close.
The story of Bumble bee jasper

Volcano yellow, black seams, cut for the ear.

Hold a strand up and the color reads like a hive: lemon yellow beside apricot orange, split by black seams that run right through each bead. The bands are not surface markings. They cross the whole stone, so a faceted pear shows a different slice on every face. This is a soft rock, so facet edges come out gentle rather than knife sharp. Makers reach for it because nothing else on the bench is this loud, and the yellow is the sulfur itself.

In crystal tradition this is counted as a stone of nerve. Bright yellow stones have long been tied to the sun and to confidence, and this one is read the same way: it is said to help the wearer settle on a decision and act rather than circle it. The black bands are described as the counterweight, holding the yellow steady. Because the pattern recalls a bee, some tell it as a stone of industry and cooperation, of small steady work adding up over a season. Collectors keep it for a different reason, as a record of what a volcano leaves behind. All of it is belief carried alongside the stone, not fact.

Beliefs about stones are tradition, not advice. Read the full story.

About Bumble bee jasper

Not a jasper. A soft fumarole rock from West Java, Indonesia (Mount Ciremai area; sold as Papandayan): fibrous calcite with native sulfur (yellow), the arsenic sulfides realgar and orpiment (orange), pyrite and manganese oxides (black). Mohs 3 to 5.

Earrings and pendants only. No soaking, acids or ultrasonic. Never grind or drill a bead; the dust carries arsenic. Sealed beads are safe to wear.
